Armats. Castrum-Armats de Mataró

Armats, an emblematic association

tecnocampus

The headquarters of the Armats de Mataró offers an insight into more than three centuries of living history through a guided tour. The Armats are an emblematic association that has formed part of Catalan culture since 1705, with parades recognised as Cultural Heritage and awarded the City Medal, showcasing emotion, faith, culture and a strong sense of tradition.

There are two exhibition floors (340 m², accessible by lift), displaying reproductions from the 1st and 17th centuries as well as unique pieces dating from the early 20th century to the present day. Uniforms, standards, armour and historical images explain how the Armats (Soldiers of Peace) have evolved from their Roman roots to their symbolic and cultural role in today’s society.

It is an experience for all audiences that combines history, tradition and identity, inviting visitors to rediscover part of Mataró’s history through one of its most solemn protagonists.
