EMAS Certification

Since 2005, the Mataró Port Consortium has held EMAS certification from the Catalan government. The EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) system promotes continued improvement in organisations’ environmental policies, through various tools. It is a voluntary environmental management system that enables organisations to evaluate and improve their environmental policies and disseminate relevant information among the public and other parties. This certification is another sign of the Mataró Port Consortium’s commitment to protecting the environment.

Blue Flag

Mataró Port has held the Blue Flag, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, since 1998, in recognition of the Mataró Port Consortium’s environmental management. It is one of the nine in Barcelona that have been granted the Blue Flag this year. This award recognises Mataró Port’s excellent quality in areas such as life-saving and first aid, water quality, safety, services, and the environmental information and education provided in the area. It recognises overall sustainable quality, along with all the environmentally responsible policies and action implemented by Mataró Port.
