This “Central Park” has been an oasis of peace in the town, perfect for a quiet stroll or a moment of relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of urban life since the late-19th century. The park is populated by a variety of trees and plants, including majestic eucalyptus and a fine cedar wood.
A romantic-style fountain stands at the park entrance, while higher up is another adorned by El Negrito, a stone figure depicting a small black man dressed in bright colours, holding a yellow cage in one hand. The statue was probably donated by a wealthy local who had made his fortune in the Americas.
Near the children's play area is a small oval pond for fish, a fountain spouting water in the centre.
In the centre of the park a large paved court is used for dances, concerts and other events throughout the year.
