Mataró’s sea front, or Passeig Marítim, is an invitation to a quiet stroll among palms and pines to admire the unusual trees known as ombus. These specimens, with their huge canopies, stand before the old seamen’s houses in Callao.
In the Callao beach area are picnic tables and benches for visitors to rest or enjoy a snack under the pines beside the sea.
Passeig del Callao is the starting point for both a six-kilometre round walk along the whole sea front and another two-kilometre route around the pleasure port.
