ElsCinc Sénies (“The Five Waterwheels”) is a peri-urban agricultural space with a total area of more than two hundred hectares on the coast between Mataró and Sant Andreu de Llavaneres.
The path starts just after Plaça de Puerto Rico. Along the way, the walk can admire the patchwork formed by fields, greenhouses and farmhouses in an area where the main products are tomatoes, ganxet beans, artichokes, floreta peas, potatoes, onions, chard and spinach, all sold in the market at Mataró under the label Collits a casa (“Home grown”).
The area is valued for its conservation of traditional agricultural uses despite its proximity to the city, from which it is separated only by a riverbed.
The landscape is dominated by Onofre Arnau hill where, according to legend, the Dragon of Mataró was born.
