The name Posidonia: Mataró has one of the largest Posidonia meadows, occupying an area of approximately 700 hectares, which provide habitat for around twenty species of fish and a large number of organisms that take advantage of the protection offered by the posidonia to lay their eggs. Posidonia also acts as a biological filter and immobilises toxic substances to leave them out of circulation.
