Mataró preserves a rich industrial heritage: steam-powered factories, factories, cooperatives... This route offers the chance to discover the beginnings of industrialisation and the role played by the labour movement and cooperativism in the city. By visiting some of Mataró’s most emblematic factories, such as the La Obrera Mataronense Cooperative, known as the Nau Gaudí, or Can Marfà-Knitwear Museum, you will also learn about the people who made possible the major economic, social and urban transformation of the city during the 19th and 20th centuries.
